Thomas B. Briers, CPA/PFS, CFP®

Thomas B. Briers brings over thirty-five years of domestic and international business and professional experience to BriersCPA. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant-Personal Financial Specialist and Certified Financial Planner ™.

Prior to forming the firm, he was Regional Chief Operating Officer for Stewart Enterprises, Inc. in the U.S. and Europe. Tom was formerly a Managing Partner with Persinger & Company, CPAs, and, has over twenty-five years experience in public accounting, working primarily with professionals, high net worth individuals and various business entities.

He is also affiliated with Cornerstone Financial Planning, Inc., an independent, locally owned financial planning firm, specializing in tax strategies, investment management, retirement planning, wealth management and estate planning.

Tom is a graduate of Concord University with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and Boston University's Program for Financial Planners. He holds the Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses and Florida insurance license.

Tom and his wife, Joy, reside in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Michael T. Briers, M.Acc., CPA

Michael T. Briers a licensed Certified Public Accountant in several states and has over 15 years of public and corporate accounting and tax experience.

Prior to establishing BriersCPA, Mike was the Asian Corporate Controller for Springs Global US, Inc. (a milti-billion dollar textile company). Before the Asian post, he was a senior tax manager for the same company where he managed several aspects of the corporate tax function including compliance, federal and state tax planning and annual SEC tax reporting.

Earlier in his career, Mike worked for Ernst & Young LLC, assisting clients on various types of tax and accounting issues ranging from multi-tiered partnerships and S-Corporations to large corporate clients.

Mike holds a B.S.B.A. from West Virginia University, a Masters of Accountancy (Taxation emphasis) from The University of Tennessee and completed significant course work on his M.B.A. from Wake Forest University prior to relocating to Shanghai, China.

He currently resides in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife Chandra and two children, Mary Beth and John.
