Michael T. Briers, MAcc., CPA
Mike assists clients in developing strategies to improve financial reporting, minimize taxes and improve financial health. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant with extensive experience in public and corporate accounting, with emphasis in tax management.
Before forming BriersCPA, Mike was based in Shanghai, China as the Asian Corporate Controller of Springs Global US where he directed financial operations. He was also a senior tax manager, responsible for federal and state tax planning and compliance, together with SEC tax reporting. Earlier in his career, he was a CPA with Ernst & Young, where he assisted clients on various accounting and complex tax issues.

Thomas B. Briers, CPA/PFS, CFP®
Tom is both a CPA and a skilled financial planner who is especially qualified to help clients with all their business and personal financial needs. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with over 35 years of domestic and international accounting and business management experience.
Prior to forming BriersCPA, Tom was Regional Chief Operating Officer for Stewart Enterprises in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to that, he was Managing Partner with the CPA firm of Persinger & Company.

Carl J. Barba, Jr.
Carl Barba is a hands-on, senior-level executive with thirty years of strong financial leadership in multiple industries, including law, retailing and manufacturing.
His broad expertise includes treasury functions, finance and business operations, international finance, SEC regulatory compliance, risk and credit management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technology analysis and implementation, profitability analysis and managing multi-million dollar budgets.
Carl was Executive Director and CFO of the large Boston law firm of Nutter McClennen & Fish, where he directed firm finances and operations. As CFO and Vice President of Finance for Scandia Trading Co. and Welch Foods, he handled risk management and all financial and administrative functions. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Internal Auditor at Bausch & Lomb and a Senior Accountant at Arthur Andersen.

Yu-Ya Chiu, MBA
Yu-Ya is an energetic, results-oriented, individual who is on a fast track to a successful career in finance and accounting. She has an MBA with a concentration in finance, having excelled in accounting, managing portfolio investments in money and capital markets, and business finance.
As BriersCPA’s Financial Analyst, she applies keen research and statistical analysis skills to manage client accounting and financial closings and analyses, preparing and analyzing reports for variances and cost trends, conducting account reconciliations and handling timely financial reporting responsibilities.
She was previously a Bookkeeper with Naples Asset Management Company, where she managed corporate financial records such as accounts payable & receivable, billing and collection, payroll, bank reconciliations and mortgage record keeping. Earlier, she was an Engineering Intern with the South Florida Water Management District.
Fluent in both Mandarin and English, Yu-Ya is a welcome addition to our international accounting firm.
